Ten people were killed in attack on military

[16/January/2019] SANAA, Jan. 16 (Saba) - Ten
people were killed and others wounded in an attack by gunmen from the Boko
Haram group on a military base in northeastern Nigeria.
Military sources in Nigeria said gunmen from the group attacked the base north of the Maiduguri town in the state of Borno and seized weapons and army vehicles.
Explaining that government forces managed after three hours of fighting to regain control of the city.
The group's fighters launched several recent attacks in Nigeria, ahead of elections scheduled for Feb. 16.
For its part, the United Nations warned this month of the impact of escalating violence in northeastern Nigeria between government forces and Boko Haram militants on the humanitarian situation of the tens of thousands of Nigerians who fled the fighting.
