Frank Lampard: Why Chelsea are not winning matches

The Chelsea boss was left frustrated after watching his wards yet again fail to win a match they dominated early on as Chelsea could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester City.
Mason Mount gave the home side a deserved 7th minute lead after the youngster stole the ball off the dithering feet of Wilfred Ndidi and sent a first time shot past Schmeichel in goal, Soccernet.ng reports.

But the Blues failed to add to their lead despite creating the better chances in the first half.
Leicester grew into the game and got their equalizer midway into the second half when Ndidi powered home a fine header off a James Maddison corner.
Class day. Great atmosphere & chants on the train & the pub before the game, got the Soyuncu song banging, limbs when Ndidi made it 1-1 (I’m in that first photo somewhere). Excellent 2nd half performance from the lads could have easily won it. 💉💙

It was the third match in the last nine days where the Blues will lose despite starting brightly.
Frank Lampard has however revealed that failure to be clinical in critical moments of those matches are the reasons behind Chelsea’s inability to win a match so far this season.
Speaking to Match of the Day, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard said: “It’s very early for us. We have to be patient as we are working towards something.
“Two or three nil would have taken the game away from them (Leicester City) but we didn’t take those chances. That’s the story of our season so far. We need to be more clinical, for sure. It is defining.”
Despite the disappointment of only managing a draw in his first game in charge at the Stamford Bridge, Lampard still believe there were positives to be drawn from the game, notable among which is a first senior goal for Academy graduate, Mason Mount.
“It is the first of many moments from Mason [Mount]. I have absolute confidence in him,” the Chelsea boss said.
“This (Chelsea) is home for me and I really appreciated the support. It’s my club, I played here so long and I’m slightly disappointed we didn’t get the win but I’m thankful to the fans.

“We have had a tough start – to go to Manchester and get beaten the way we did then lose the Super Cup when I thought we were the better team.”
