FedEx Shooting In Indianapolis: Officials Give Accounts
Investigators are trying to determine the motive of the gunman who opened fire at a FedEx ground facility in Indianapolis, Indiana. Several officials held a press briefing Friday to provide what little information they have been able to gather in the hours after the shooting.
Authorities confirmed the gunman shot and killed eight people. Several others were also wounded in the gunfire. Officials also confirmed the shooter later turned the gun on himself. They noted, it would be premature to speculate on a motive.
According to witnesses, the man got out of his vehicle and immediately began shooting. It seemingly happened without provocation before he decided to barge into the facility.
The FBI is assisting local police in their investigation into the motive behind the attack and officials said they are hopeful security video from the building will be able to assist them in that investigation. They will release more information as it becomes available.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police ChiefRandal Taylor praised his officers and the first responders as heroes. He called the act “senseless” and “unacceptable.”
