1 Person Dead And Several Injured In Explosion At Mo. Duplex
Investigators have been investigating the cause of a fiery explosion at a home in Missouri. Firefighters responded to the blast at a duplex in a suburb of Kansas City on Monday night.
Authorities reported a man and two children were injured and transported to the hospital where officials have not released their condition. One individual was also pronounced dead at the scene, with the cause of death still unknown.
About half of the duplex was destroyed in the explosion. A neighbor on scene described the blast as one big explosion, followed by multiple smaller one.
“A huge explosion took off and it shook the entire house, shook all of our neighbors’ houses,” he explained. “…We kept hearing explosions. We walked around the corner to see debris in the street and you see the garage door in the street and see the firemen getting children out.”
ATF reported evidence indicating the possibility of illegal fireworks being made at the scene of the explosion, but specificities have yet to be confirmed. Authorities said the incident was isolated and there was no further threat to the public.
The Missouri Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation into the incident. They have been working to locate exactly where the fire started, which would help them understand the cause.
