Ariz. Senate President: Auditors Don’t Need Special Certification
Arizona Senate President Karen Fann has questioned Maricopa County’s statement on certifying auditors. According to reports on Saturday, the county claimed the Senate’s auditors have not been certified to conduct an audit.
This would mean the county would have to decertify any machines touched by the Senate. According to Fann however, there was no process for certifying auditors.
This comes after the cybersecurity firm, Cyber Ninjas, requested more information from Maricopa County to complete the audit. The items requested included envelope and router images, splunk logs and hard drives with information regarding the 2020 election.
Maricopa County responded by saying the audit team had all necessary resources required to perform an audit and labeled the team as “uncertified.” Fann then reached out to the Federal Elections Commission for more information on the process of auditor certification and was told there was no such thing.
Fann went on to say the audits performed by the county in November were done by so-called uncertified auditors as well, without any issues raised.
