Cuomo: ‘I Told You The Truth’ About COVID
New York’s controversial Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) insisted he remained truthful about the virus throughout the pandemic, despite being faced with numerous allegations for lying about deaths in his state. During a press briefing at Yankee Stadium on Monday, Cuomo took zero responsibility for nursing home deaths in New York and went as far as to say he only told the facts about the virus from the beginning.
“I have told you the facts on COVID from day 1,” he claimed. “…While a lot of people were talking politics and a lot of people were talking theory and a lot of people were trying to deny because they did not want to deliver bad news, I told you the truth.”
Social media users were outraged by the governor’s words and suggested Cuomo was gaslighting the public to increase New York’s vaccination rates. He went on to blame unvaccinated New Yorkers for the rise in coronavirus cases by saying ideology, religion and concerns about long term vaccine effects were not valid excuses for not getting jabbed.
He went on to say, “there is not logical theory that anyone can advance now that says it’s more logical not to take the vaccine than to take the vaccine.”
In addition, Cuomo blamed politics over allegations accusing him of lying to the public for underreporting nursing home deaths and his sexual misconduct claims, even though much of the backlash came from within his own party.
“The political environment has gotten so toxic in this country. So toxic, so mean, it was an outrageous allegation,” he expressed. “New York followed the CDC guidance. CDC is a federal agency that is supposed to know what they are talking about.”
Over the weekend, the Department of Justice announced it would not investigate Cuomo’s handling of the pandemic. This has been a major blowback to those who have tried to hold the governor accountable for allowing infected COVID-19 patents to reside in nursing homes.
