Glory in the Cell: Chidima Wins a Crown in Kirikiri


Chidinma Ojukwu, the ill-fated girl accused for the  death of Super TV CEO, Micheal Ataga has been crowned as Miss Cell 2022 after winning a pageant in jail.

Chidinma, a 300-level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos, and two others are on trial over Ataga’s murder.

She was however crowned the winner of a beauty pageant held at Kirikiri correctional facility to mark the 2022 International Women’s Day during the week.



Otunba Sesan Limelite posted on his Facebook page on Thursday, “Chidinma Ojukwu, the alleged killer of Super Tv CEO, Micheal Ataga has been crowned as MISS CELL 2022 at a beauty pageant held within Kirikiri correctional facility to mark the 2022 International Women’s Day.”

Some of those who commented on the post however expressed disappointment at the pageant.

For instance, Okeneye Washington Oluwaseun Ayobami said, “We are all mad in this country! So Micheal Ataga's ghost will b clapping for her in d grave.”

Asiwaju Amid Oluwasheun Oloriire said, “What nonsense! Ẹni t'oku ni tiẹ gbé hmmmmm, its better someone don't wait to be killed or else hmmmmm.”

Chidinma is standing trial alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, and one Adedapo Quadri. The alleged murder took place at the Lekki Phase 1, area of Lagos State.

Recently at the hearing, a partner at Super Network Limited, the parent company of Super TV, Raman Saliu disclosed that the body of the late Chief Executive Officer, Ataga, was seen with deep cuts from his neck to the back, on the stomach, and around the ribs.

Saliu who is the fifth witness in the case, informed the Lagos High Court in TBS, that his friend of 10 years was killed mercilessly, noting that there were seven stab wounds on the deceased’s body.
