Attacks and killings in Imo are crime against humanity — Bar. Ejiofor
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, has condemned the incessant attacks and killings in Imo state.
Ejiofor, who expressed concern about killings by armed groups and security agencies, said it is a crime against humanity.
Dozens of civilians were confirmed killed on Easter Sunday in separate attacks by Nigerian forces who raided communities they say are hideouts for gunmen.
“Harvest of death in IMO state , it must not go uninvestigated. It is a crime against humanity! My heart bleeds!
“I strongly condemn in unmistakable terms the genocidal massacre of innocent civilians. It was indeed a black Easter Sunday!,” Ejiofor said in a statement Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has dismissed reports blaming IPOB and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) for the violence and attacks in the state.
In a video shared on social media, the governor said thugs sponsored by politicians are responsible for the insecurity.
