Elon musk, today, wrote on his X handle that his Starlink Telecom company was denied operational right in South Africa because he is not Black. Mosk views vancbe summarized as shown bellow and the reactions that followed the claim.
Elon Musk has stated that his company, Starlink, is not allowed to operate in South Africa due to his race, linking this to the country's Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) policies. These policies require companies to have significant ownership by historically disadvantaged groups. Musk's claims have sparked a debate over the implications of these laws. Meanwhile, discussions are underway regarding potential exemptions for foreign investors like Musk, highlighting tensions between local regulations and international business interests.
Starlink is not allowed to operate in South Africa, because I’m not black
"Michael De Villiers replies must thust,
Elon, stop the victim complex. Starlink isn’t banned in South Africa because of your skin color, it’s because you refuse to comply with local laws like every other telecom provider. Play by the rules or stay out, simple."
Clayson Money reacted the following way,
"Sir, that's NOT true & you know it! It's got nothing to do with your skin colour. Starlink is welcome to operate in
provided there's compliance with local laws. This is a global international trade & investment principle. There are over 600 USA companies investing & operating" Peché Africa followed the same way,
"Dude it has nothing to do with you, the truth:
Starlink cannot operate in South Africa due to a regulatory requirement that telecom companies must have 30% ownership by "historically disadvantaged groups" (HDGs), part of the country’s Black Economic Empowerment policy. Elon Musk has refused to comply, calling it discriminatory, and Starlink has not applied for the necessary licenses from ICASA, South Africa’s communications regulator. ICASA has declared Starlink’s use illegal, and the government has not budged on the rule despite talks and alternative proposals. As a result, Starlink remains blocked in South Africa as of March 7, 2025, while operating in other African countries."
Nathalie Yamb put her comments straight that Musk refused to comply with the South African laws.
"Starlink is not allowed to operate in South Africa, because you refuse to comply with the country’s law. And guess what: as son of the apartheid, you might consider yourself above the sons of the soil, but you will never be above the law.Starlink is not allowed to operate in South Africa, because you refuse to comply with the country’s law. And guess what: as son of the apartheid, you might consider yourself above the sons of the soil, but you will never be above the law."
Manyore reactions followed greater of which have condemned musk's claim of coloure barrier. Only Mario Nawfal spoke mostly on the negative, for he was trying to display his white supremacists ideology in his comment , he said,
"140 race-based laws in South Africa, all anti-white..."
There's been endless laws, anti-white, boiling us like a frog in a bowl.
And all I can say is thank you, America, and thank you, Donald Trump, for taking notice because we are on the edge of the socialist abyss."
