Jack Rich had the negotiated amount of N500 million in cash, converted to dollars, with him on the 9:00 am Max Air flight from Lagos to Abuja. Deolu, Gbajabiamila's younger brother, facilitated the deal at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. During the campaign, Jack Rich had previously given Bola Tinubu N1 billion and now seeks a solid guarantee of a Ministerial position. Specifically, he desires the Petroleum Ministry, as he hopes to obtain an oil lifting license. It remains uncertain whether the cash will reach Gbajabiamila or if it will end up in his brother's pocket.

Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), says President Bola Tinubu has the constitutional powers to stop any criminal trial in the country.
